Automatic detection
When DMARC aggregate reports arrive for your root domain, DMARCeye scans them for activity on subdomains. If a subdomain is found that is not yet in your account, it is automatically created as a separate domain entry and placed in Parked status. This means no slot is consumed and no monitoring begins — you are simply notified that the subdomain exists and has been seen in reports.Inherited vs. own DMARC policy
A subdomain either has its own DMARC record in DNS or it inherits the policy of its parent domain. DMARCeye handles both cases, but with one difference in what you can do. Subdomain with its own DMARC record — full management is available. You can view reports and configure DMARC settings directly within DMARCeye, the same way you would for a root domain. Subdomain inheriting its parent’s policy — the DMARC management section is not available for that subdomain, since there is no independent record to manage. You can still activate it, view its reports, and monitor its sending activity. The inherited policy itself is managed at the root domain level.Activating a detected subdomain
When a subdomain appears in Parked status, you decide whether to activate it. Activating moves it to Active status and occupies one domain slot in your account. If you choose not to activate it, the subdomain remains Parked indefinitely and does not affect your slot count. You can activate it at any time later, as long as a free slot is available.Practical tips
- Review your Parked domains periodically to catch subdomains that may have become active senders.
- If a subdomain is only used temporarily, keep it Parked until you need full reporting for it.
- Subdomains inherited from a root domain do not need their own DMARC record to be monitored — activating them is enough to start seeing their report data.
